Plyometrics exercises are the most important part of a sports training program. History of plyometrics

Plyometrics exercises were developed by Yuri Verkhoshansky in the late 60s and 70s as a training module for the soviets.   • Plyometric depth jump – This is by far the most important plyometrics jumping exercise for the beginners. For doing this exercise, you will need a box which is 8 to 16 inches high. You can perform this exercise in many ways as it is a basic level plyometric exercise. One method (for beginners) is to stand straight on the box and jump from there and land on your feet flatly and then bend your knees to absorb the shock of the jump. You are advised to stop at this step until you mastered this step.
  • Plyometrics squat jump – This is similar to the usual squat, but in this case you have to take a vertical jump as high as possible before returning back to the low squat position. This needs to be done as quickly as possible to maximize the force.
  • Some other plyometrics exercises also include rim jump, and bounding run.

It is also important to note that before jumping into plyometrics exercises, you are advised to perform some exercises such as squats and dead lifts to strengthen your body. It is advised to shun the chances of any possible injuries while doing plyometrics exercises.
