between crosscourt and down the line backhands. This drill is also great exercise / great for developing proper footwork. Moving around the cone works on the various steps I need to move around the tennis court correctly. I highly recommend you use a drill like this one, as opposed to just hitting on a ball machine with no purpose, the next time you hit the tennis court to practice. Make the most out of your practice sessions!

August 4, 2009
the thing im impressed on, is that u didnt even touch the net! spin makes the backhand a whole lot easier!
August 4, 2009
Wow your backhand is so consistent. Good work

For some reason I have a better backhand than my forehand but I use my forehand more.
Does anybody feel the same way? lol
August 5, 2009
Me too! but my forehand is a lot more consistent.. at times when the ball is in the right place on my backhand side I can kill it
haha

Mine’s like… At the baseline, I have a more solid flatter steadier backhand and my forehand hits heavy topspin coz it’s western. It’s like my backhand receives faster balls better than my forehand lol.

I always thought Will hit a one-handed, I use the 2-handed myself too, I’ve tried to learn both.
To me, 2-handed is more stable and consistently powerful as if u try to power a 1handed it takes a lot more focus to level your arm and easier to have elbow injuries
August 6, 2009
body mechanics. its simply becoz ur elbow cant bend backward and wrap around your body.

August 7, 2009

August 7, 2009
federer doesnt seem to have any problems
August 7, 2009
It’s not the string. It’s the player.
August 8, 2009
i think backhand is easier.. your body isn’t in the way its a much free – er swing. ( is that a word?)

Seems to be quite a good drill. The video is a little bit long though, you could have shown it in half the time.
Nevertheless: I really like your channel, keep on going!

I wish I could play my tennis matches in third person… Play my matches like a video game… ya know? Tennis is just SO awesome with the third person view

Is there HIP rotation in backhand as much as there is in forehand. I always felt backhand has less hip rotation than forehand. Will seems to be hitting with full rotation.
August 14, 2009
nice backhands! However, I always thought you had a one handed backhand!
August 18, 2009
I know exactly what u mean buddy
August 20, 2009
Thanks, this reaally helped me with my backhand.
& i love your videos, it’s so helpful (:
August 24, 2009
lol 1h backhand is nice
August 25, 2009
I have a Wilson ball machine.
You look like you have a two-handed forehand because I’m not a lefty. Your videos would rock if you were using your right hand. I wish I had learned with my left hand like Nadal, then I could be more competitive. I wonder if it’s too late to start using my left hand?
What do you think? Should I if I’ve been playing for 17.5 years, since I was 10? Why bother?
August 30, 2009
Sorry, don’t bother
September 27, 2009
Finally, a tennis video with a left handed player!! Yes!! Nice form & footwork!
October 6, 2009
most coaches can use both one or two hands so they can teach both
also when they are feeding balls to the students its easier with one hand,
