this looks like it’s in the tail end of lake tholocco on ft. rucker but i’ve been back there in the middle of july and never had this kind of action. where ever you guys are at you did a good job of wakin’ em up! catch and release way to go.

I have a few questions.. first, does a heavier line cast further(baitcaster)? second, how do you get enough weight on a top water bait to cast it far without puting split shots on it ( which always make it sink). third, how do you keep buzz baits on top of the water?

1st No heavy line is not going to cast further 2nd You use Bait casting rod. 3rd there are buzz baits made to stay on top of the water.Well little bit under surface. Good luck.

heavy line does not cast farther, but shorter. second buy a heavier top water bait or put the split shots 4 fett above the lure on the line. third get a top water buzzbait.

you shouldnt have to cast a topwater that far in the first place to the weight of the lure is enough and for buzzbaits to stay ontop of the water just hold your rod tip up and adjust as needed

hey when u miss a fish off of buzzbaits try a senko in the same spot u missed hjim at 99.1% of te time it works

a senko doesn’t usually work for me, but a good bait you can try is a zoom minnow texas rig with no weight. white is good so they have a good visual of it. A senko will work if it’s texas style wit no weight and you work it like a jerk bait.

when a buzz bait hits the water it will sink. You just have to reel a bit fast when it hits. 2nd use a bait caster. 3rd 10-14 lb test mono or fluorocarbon is perfect for most buzzbait applications

this is probably a stupid ? but i was wondering ifyou could use a buzzbait in the river and still get bites… ive always used them in ponds only and havent had a whole bunch of success with them in rivers so could someone reply to this cuz i really would like to know

nice fish

i wouldn’t think so because a buzzbait is really for calmer water, well i guess if the water is calm in the river then you could. spinnerbaits would work really well though.

1 use a bait caster and properly tune it for the lure you are using.
2 10-14 lb mono or braid. dont use flouro. flouro is made to sink. not good for topwater.
3 dont set the hook on the strike. wait a second lower the rod and then set the hook.
