No sir,the common carp was introduced to the US in the 1800s…. we have the smallmouth and bigmouth Buffalo,which is often confused with a carp,but they are more closely related to suckers..too many carp can be detrimental to a small watershed……they are very smart fish,very hard fighters,fun to catch….. but I still ahet them

I believe they used to advertise carp for fishing tourism here in Minnesota a very long time ago. Salmon didn’t fare too well in our lakes so we used carp
